Root Boy Slim Tribute Show January 16 at the Whiskey in Annapolis Will Benefit Former Slim Guitarist Wayne Tomlinson

Alumni of the bands of Washington-area music legend Root Boy Slim will come together as The Root Boy Slim All-Stars starting at 5 p.m. Jan. 16 at The Whiskey in Annapolis for a rare reunion appearance and tribute show to benefit one of their own – Wayne Tomlinson, a former guitarist in Root Boy Slim’s band, “Capitol Offense.”

Tomlinson has suffered health problems and a variety of other setbacks in the past year. A minimum $15 donation is requested at the door, with all proceeds going directly to Tomlinson.
 
The fundraiser will also include a raffle for a guitar made by the Annapolis-based Paul Reed Smith Company, as well as drawings for signed photos, CDs, and more.

A Rare Gathering of Root Boy Slim Alumni

The Root Boy Slim All-Stars will include some of the Washington area’s top players performing a full set of Root Boy Slim hits as.   Performers will include saxophonist Ron Holloway; pianist/saxophonist/vocalist Deanna Bogart; guitarist Dan Hovey, keyboard man/vocalist/guitarist Tommy Lepson; drummers El Torro Gamble and John Zidar; bassist Scott Ambush; along with Dick Bangham, Cherie Grasso.  
 
The set list will include some of Slim’s most popular tunes like “Do the Gator,”  “Dare to be Fat,” Boogie Till You Puke,“ “You Broke My Mood Ring,”  “My Wig Fell Off,”  “I’m Not Too Old for You,” and more classics from the Root Boy Slim songbook.

 The Root Boy Slim All-Stars will be joined at the event by the Linwood Taylor Band, just back from a tour with blues legend Joe Louis Walker; Annapolis favorites Dean Rosenthal & His 4Piece Racket; and The Tommy Lepson Band, with special guests Daryl Junior Cline from Junior Cline & The Recliners, and Mark Wenner from the Nighthawks.
